White Hart Renaissance Faire

Yesterday I went to the White Hart Ren. Faire. I go every year and always have a good time and spend more than I intend to. This year I dressed sorta pirate style. I wore these loose baggy black pants that I love, a light white shirt, and my black red and gold dragon corset. I also carried a peacock tail fan. I meant to take a picture when I got home but I just wanted to get out of my corset. It wasn't so tight it hurt but after 4 hours it becomes uncomfortable.

While there I bought a cane sword topped with two dragons surrounding a big blue ball. I like it, but I wish the ball was a stone or a different shade but I do love the dragons; plus I've always wanted a cane sword. I, also bought a black hip scarf with silver coins. I have done some belly dancing but haven't owned a hip wrap before. I got my Dad his father's day gift, a new knife to crave with. And of course I bought some food.

It was a little weird at the start, I ran into my best friend from high school, Bobbie. I haven't seen her in around nine years. When we were kids I stuck to her like glue. When we were in high school she dated a man named Marty. She dropped out in our junior year but we stayed close for a couple of years. She married Marty a year or so later she left him. After that She just disappeared. It hurt my feelings for a long time that she just forgot about me. Eventually time heals all wounds and I've moved on. Heck, I didn't even recognize her. She's remarried and has a couple of kids now. She looked happy, and better than when I knew her.

After that I walked around, saw a couple of shows, and talked to a nice couple about horror movies and books.

College

Well the girls' foster mother is keeping the girls. Granted it would be better if they were with their mother but at least their foster mother cares for them. Their mom has a long road ahead of her but she's going to keep fighting.

Some good news, I registered for College classes on Friday. On Mondays I'll be taking Math 050 followed by IDS 110, on Tuesdays COM 115, Wednesday MTH 050 again, Thursday SOC 150 and PLS 101. I'm also taking CIS 101 online. I'm looking forward to it, unfortunately my Pell won't cover all the cost of school. I'm not sure how I'm going to pay for all my school books but I'll manage. I might have to drop a course or two and take them next semester.

Bleeping DFS

Wright County Division of Family Services esp. Case Worker Naomi are full of Sh!t. My best friend is in a desperate fight with no way to win against them. They made a list of things she needed to do in order to get her kids back, and now they say that nothing she does will get them back instead it's up to a psychologist to determine whether she will get them back or not. This will be the third psych that the girls are going to and their mother has never met. The second psych put the youngest on a medicine thats not meant for anyone under the age of ten.

The youngest girl who just turned 6 has oppositional defiant disorder. Her mother spanked her with a belt ONCE because she broke her bedroom window with her fist during a fit. The girls have been with a foster mother who the girls and their mother trusts. She has been doing her best to provide a stable home for the girls during this horrible time. Now Naomi wants them placed in a stage 3 home. So the girls' foster mother is having to fight to keep them.

Now for Something Completely Different Pride and Prejudice and Zombies

Best Cover Ever!

I just got this book yesterday. I'm up to Chapter 9. The chapters are fairly short though. So far I like what I'm reading. I'm going to have to reread the original after I'm done. So far there have been quite a few zombie attacks and I like the descriptions. The mother is just as annoying in this version as well. It did get me thinking about what other old books could use this kind of mash up.

Jane Eyre and Werewolves, It makes a kind of sense when you think about it. His wife wasn't just a nut case she was also a werewolf. At the very end Rochester becomes a werewolf as well.

Great Expectations of Vampires. To be honest, I've never read Great Expectations, but I think it would work.

Moby Dick and Star Trek, It's happened.

Anyways, I do recommend this book.

I'm Baaack

I finally got my laptop back! I had to send it to be fixed. Thankfully, it was still under warranty. The prongs that hold the plug in place were loose so it wasn't charging. I just got it back today, Yea.

I finished my L. D. testing last Friday. I should have my results in three weeks.

Be Polite

Sorta Practice for ACT writing portion.

I believe everyone should at some part of their life work in a minimum wage job. Some people believe only the unintelligent or poor work in a minimum wage job. Others believe it can be a good stepping stone, and can be a good way of learning humility. Working in a minimum wage job can teach you humility, time management, and how to fit in with a diverse amount of people.

Working in a minimum wage job can teach you humility. While working in a minimum wage job, you have to deal with a lot of people. A lot of those people will be nice, polite, and patient. Those people will understand that, even when they have to wait or something goes wrong, your just doing your job. There are others who will do their best to go out of their way to make you life hard. One of my coworkers is constantly hit on in an unpleasant way, has her personally space invaded, and harassed in other ways by customers. They know that we can't be rude to them and as long as they stand in the store we are a captive audience. My friend remains cool, calm, and collected no matter what happens because she has learned humility.

Working in a minimum wage job can teach you good time management skills. In my job I usually have only four hours to get everything done. I have to put all the food in the prep table, make at least 6 medium pizzas and other food items, stock the cooler, make sure everything is set up for the next shift, wash all the dishes, wipe all the surfaces, and sweep and mop the floor. All of that might not sound like a lot but if you don't have good time management skills it can take a lot of time, and you'll leave work late and get wrote up.

Working in a minimum wage job can teach you how to deal with a diversity of people. In addition to dealing with customers, minimum wage jobs tend to have a high turn over rate. Because of the high turn over you never know who you are going to be working with. Maybe you will become good friends, maybe you will be bitter enemies.

In conclusion I believe minimum wage jobs are good preparation for the rest of your life. Also this essay has been half truth and half pure bull s%!^.

And Now For Something Completely Different: Jean-Pierre Jeunet

Lately I've been watching some really great movies by Jean-Pierre
Jeunet. I started by watching Delicatessen. It was really good. It
takes place in a sort of retro apocalypse France. It's a love story
with cannibalism. The main character is played by one of my
favorite actors Dominique Pinon.

Then I rented Alien: Resurrection. I wasn't too keen on this
when it first came out but it's grown on me lol. After watching
Delicatessen, it was odd hearing Dominique speak English but he did
really well he stumbled over a few words but I certainly couldn't
speak French half as well as he speaks English.

Amelie, I have always liked this rather sweet
story.

The City of Lost Children is a rather strange gem. It's hard to follow at times but it's very good. Plus it has Dominique Pinon playing 7 roles.

Ode to a Lean Pocket

Ode to a Lean Pocket

Beloved pocket
Steamy Molten Goodness Hot
Healthy Fast and good.

In the Microwave
I wait and pace two minutes
Burn my mouth and heart

Oh time saving meal
Low calories high value
Keep me on the track

----------------------------------

Lol just being goofy, I know this isn't actually an ode. I have always preferred to do Haiku. As for the lean pocket, I was in a rush to get to work and only had time to grab a lean pocket for lunch. Having it did somewhat help me to keep from grabbing some junk food.

And Now For Something Completely Different: Tiger lillies

Even though I am striving for perfection, I still feel like celebrating my own unique style. One of my favorite Odd bands is The Tiger Lillies. I first heard of this great band on Ovation (one of my favorite channels). The have a strange sort of cabaret style.

My two favorite songs are Snip Snip and Maria. Snip Snip is a song about the long legged scissor man who cuts off thumbs. Maria is a tragedy, I find it sad, disturbing, and beautiful.

Striving for perfection.

For a long time now, I have been content to just drift through life. However, I have begun to question that. Last year I started a diet and have lost about 20 pounds, I used the free parts of Diet.com to help me lose that much. Lately I have been slipping a bit. I'll admit to that.

This year I decided to enroll at Missouri State University. It's been ten years since I was in high school. In fact my tenth year reunion is this year. I am excited, despite some drama going on with my best friend. I haven't found out if I'm going to get enough financial aid to cover the costs. I hope so because even though I plan on working, I have bills to pay as well. I also need to get tested for my LD (Learning Disability). I need to have up to date documentation to get assistance. I'm also going to have to retake the ACT. I'm reading The ACT for Dummies.
